Heather Wheeler, MA, EdD
During her 23 years as an educator, Dr. Heather Wheeler has worked to ensure that the door to education is open for every learner, especially historically underserved students. In her roles of classroom teacher, instructional coach, principal, and district administrator, she has accomplished this by creating and enacting equitable school and classroom policies and practices based on the principle that all students have an inalienable right to learn to the best of their abilities. Dr. Wheeler has focused on creating real-world programs with embedded experiences that fostered college- and career-ready students. She has designed and implemented whole-school professional learning plans to support Restorative Justice implementation, as well as the formation of Professional Learning Communities paired with school-wide systems of support for all students.
Dr. Wheeler holds a BA in Psychology from Sonoma State University, a Single-Subject Clear CLAD English credential and master’s in Education from National University, and an administrative credential from CSU Fresno. Additionally, she earned a doctorate in Social Justice Educational Leadership from San Francisco State University. She currently works as the Dean of Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment with a mid-sized school district in the Central Valley of California.
Dr. Wheeler lives in Fresno, CA, with her husband and youngest child, who is taller than everyone else in the household. When not working, she enjoys reading everything, painting, and traveling.
